Segregationist Strom Thurmond’s Black Daughter Dead At 87

Essie Mae Washington-Williams has passed of natural causes according to her attorney, Frank K Wheaton. If you remember in 2003 Mrs. Washington-Williams revealed the shocking news that she was the secret daughter of segregationist, U.S. senator Strom Thurmond. Thurmond had built a life-long political career based on segregation.

She met her father in 1941 but said before then she didn’t know he was white. She kept the secret for more than 60 years.
