Quvenzhané Wallis Becomes Youngest Black Actor Nominated For Oscar [Full List]

The nominations for the 2013 Acaemy Awards were revealed only moments ago. While there weren’t too many surprises, the one shocker is the Best Actress nomination for the 8 year old actress Quvenzhané Wallis, who made waves in “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” Not yet 10 years old, Wallis becomes the youngest person ever to be nominated in a major category.

Naturally, Denzel Washington received a nod in the Best Actor slot for his riveting role in “Flight.” Despite its sharp criticism, Quentin Tarantino‘s “Django Unchained” was blessed with a Best Picture nomination alongside “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Argo,” and “Lincoln.”

Finally, we have a real reason to watch the Oscars. We can’t wait to see if Denzel Washington,  Quvenzhané Wallis, and “Beasts of the Southern Wild” director Benh Zeitlin will walk away with trophies!
