50 Cent–real name Curtis Jackson–was approached by Lighty’s family because they do not accept of the coroner’s final conclusion that Lighty committed suicide. In August, the 44-year-old music executive was discovered dead in the backyard of his Bronx, New York home with a gunshot wound to the head. The official cause of his death was ruled a suicide.

There was talk that Lighty had a heated discussion with Veronica shortly before his death. Reports of his financial troubles, including a $5 million debt to the feds and an overdrawn checking account in the amount of nearly $54,000, were also published soon after news of his death broke.
