There is a reported rift between the late Chris Lighty’s wife, Veronica, and his family. Those who were closest to Lighty are reportedly suspicious of the circumstances surrounding his death last month and are demanding answers.
Now 50 Cent, along with the late music manager’s family, have hired a private investigator to delve into the case, according to the New York Post.
50 Cent–real name Curtis Jackson–was approached by Lighty’s family because they do not accept of the coroner’s final conclusion that Lighty committed suicide. In August, the 44-year-old music executive was discovered dead in the backyard of his Bronx, New York home with a gunshot wound to the head. The official cause of his death was ruled a suicide.
There was talk that Lighty had a heated discussion with Veronica shortly before his death. Reports of his financial troubles, including a $5 million debt to the feds and an overdrawn checking account in the amount of nearly $54,000, were also published soon after news of his death broke.
Regarding Lighty’s marriage to Veronica, she filed for divorce last year but claims to have retracted the filing. Veronica also admits she and her late husband had their marital war-of-the-words on occasion. But she flatly denies that they were battling right before he died.
