Mark Jackson (pictured), an ex-NBA star and current coach of the Golden State Warriors, was extorted by a stripper threatening to go public with nude photos they made together during their affair, the New York Post reports.
Alexis Adams had affair with Jackson six years ago while he was an announcer for the New Jersey Nets.
I recognize the extremely poor judgment that I used both in having an affair six years ago — including the embarrassing communication I exhibited during that time — and in attempting to deal with the extortion scheme at first by myself,” Jackson said in a prepared statement.
“I made some egregious errors. I apologize for any embarrassment I may have caused my family, friends and, of course, the Warriors.”
The defendants made their first attempt to extort Jackson on April 3, when Marcus Shaw, her alleged accomplice, met him in a Memphis hotel. Shaw allegedly gave Jackson photos and a CD with embarrassing recordings. Jackson reportedly gave up $5,000 immediately and destroyed the compromising evidence. But federal authorities say Shaw and Adams really wanted more than $185,000.
