Old School Summer Jam Charlie Wilson, Babyface Kicked Off Summer Concert Season

Nearly 12-thousand Old School and New School fans packed the Gexa Energy Pavilion last night for the 1st Annual “Old School Summer Jam.”

As  fans started to make their way to the lawn area with blankets and water in tow, you could tell they were ready to kick off the Memorial Weekend.

Kurtis Blow started off the 7-hour jam session and energized the crowd in the sweltering evening heat. The 52-year-old Rap Icon showed why he is still in demand worldwide. The Grammy-winning “Dazz Band” performed true to tradition dressed in full suits and just like back in the day, the musicians were hitting “on all fours.”  They were so cool I didn’t even see them sweat.  If it wasn’t hot enough The “Funky Divas”, Cindy, Maxine, Terry turned the heat up even higher dressed in all white and you couldn’t ignore they are still in excellent shape.  En Vogue performed songs from a few legendary female singers who paved the way in the music industry with a tribute to the late Donna Summer, the Emotions and Tina Turner, they didn’t miss a note their voices are still strong as ever.
