The highest civilian honor to be given by The United States Government is being awarded to Professor and Award-Winning Author Toni Morrison. Morrison is one of 13 recipients who will receive the honor later this spring. She was the first African American Women to be awarded a Nobel Prize in Literature (1993) and in 1997 she won a Pulitzer Prize for Beloved.
