Trayvon’s Mom On Zimmerman Arrest: ‘Thank You, Lord!’

Soon after Florida special prosecutor Angela B. Corey announced that her office charged George Zimmerman for second degree murder for the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, the slain teenager’s parents responded to the official announcement during a press conference in Washington, D.C.

Flanked by the Rev. Al Sharpton, one of her attorney’s and other supporters, Sybrina Fulton praised the arrest that took more than six weeks to happen

“We simply wanted an arrest. We wanted nothing more nothing less,” Fulton said. “We just wanted an arrest. And we got and I just want to say, ‘thank you. Thank you Lord. Thank You, Jesus.”

Then, calling on supporters of all races to come together, Fulton thanked everyone who marched and protested in honor of her son.

“Secondly, I just want to speak from my heart to your heart. Because a heart has no color. It’s not Black. It’s not white. It’s red. And I want to say, thank you from my heart to your heart. Thank you.”

Tracy Martin followed with his own comments on Zimmerman’s arrest.
