URBAN LEAGUE OF GREATER DALLAS OFFERS
CRUCIAL HEALTH SCREENINGS – 9 AM – 3 PM
Mark your calendars and set the date! February 7, 2012, the Urban League of Greater Dallas will offer HIV/AIDS testing in conjunction with National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day at its headquarters, 4315 S. Lancaster Road. There will be a panel discussion on HIV/AIDS in Our Community with leading HIV/AID professionals from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The moderator will be Tony B from Old School 94.5
In Dallas County, the majority (nearly 60%) of new cases of HIV infection occurs among African Americans who continue to be affected by HIV/AIDS at disproportionate rates. Young African American Men who have Sex with Men represent over 65% of the new HIV cases among men. Over the past three years, African American women account for over 75% of new cases of HIV among women. Young people between the age of 18 and 30 are the fastest growing group of people in Dallas County to become infected with HIV. For more information call (214) 915-4682.
In addition, mammograms and prostate screenings will also be offered. The Methodist Health System Mobile Mammography Unit will provide mammograms. Call (214) 915-4624 to schedule your appointment. Most insurance plans are accepted including Medicare Part B and Medicaid. You must bring your insurance card and the name and mailing address of your doctor to the exam. Financial assistance will be available for those who qualify.
